About the Farm

Luana's connection with the fruit started in childhood through her parents, who were cultivating coffee in small quantities. At the time, it wasn’t their main source of income as it is today. Her parents gradually improved their skills and knowledge of coffee, while her life took a different path. Though coffee wasn’t her early passion—she always dreamed of exploring the world and pursued a career in health—she eventually found herself drawn back to the land.

A native of Lambari in southern Minas Gerais, part of the Mantiqueira de Minas region, she now focuses on learning about new coffee varieties that can withstand the challenges of climate change. Over time, she realized the specialty coffees her parents produced had unique aromas and flavors she hadn’t expected, which deepened her love for the land she once left.

Today, she owns her land and takes pride in the entire coffee-growing process, from planting to the sweet-scented flowering stage and the first fruits. Her passion grew as their coffees gained recognition, and she now considers her family to be specialty coffee producers. Together with her siblings, she relies on this beautiful fruit as their primary income. She has invested in improving the harvest and post-harvest processes, including the purchase of a static dryer to enhance quality and reduce drying time.

Alongside her fiancé, she continues to learn and improve, embracing the journey of coffee production. Once indifferent to coffee, she now can’t live without it, finding it deeply gratifying to drink the coffee she produces, as she embarks on this path full of gratitude.

What makes this coffee special?

Living in a mountainous, high-altitude region enhances the quality of their coffee, though the challenges of semi-mechanized harvesting are significant. Her father always says that coffee thrives in hilly areas where the plants become heavily laden, benefiting from longer sun exposure.  For our September container we have two coffees from Luana:

1. A coffee with malic acidity, swiss chocolate, caramel, hazelnut, long and prolonged finish of ripe yellow fruits (melon), and a sweet finish reminiscent of honey.

2. A coffee with floral notes of native Jataí bee honey, honey cake, sugar cane, sweet citric acidity reminiscent of brown sugar candy.
